The Technology Student Association, otherwise known as TSA, is a nationwide organization containing over 4,000,000 students both in high school and middle school. Its annual competitions at the state and national levels test students' mastery of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields. TSA originated in 1978 and was founded on the principle of establishing future leaders in the fields of STEM. In addition to learning new key principles in STEM fields, members of each team represent their schools and communities, by presenting their knowledge to renowned judges from across the countries. The TSA competition appeals to everyone, offering a wide variety of events from Fashion Design to Software Development. The variety of events allows almost everyone to find something they are passionate about.
The TSA Mission is “Learning to Lead in a Technical World” which is what the organization strives towards, that has competitions in 48 states. The organization strives to create leaders and in a developing world, full of opportunities. The mission of TSA is accelerating student achievement and supporting teachers by providing engaging opportunities to develop STEM skills. The organization as a whole aims to have members learn and develop in Technical fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and apply their skills to the real world to solve problems around the world. These problems can apply to things like COVID-19, a problem occurring in the world that can be greatly improved with new technologies.
